From the Bumgarner History:
The seventh child of Andy an Lavina was Absolum Malachi, known as Kie, born Feb. 2, 1848 in North Carolina. He was the youngest of Andy's boys to serve in the Civil War. Kie was married three times and had a total of 10 children with his first wife being Frances Murphy Jourden, known as Mitty. They were married June 28, 1866 in Webster County and had 5 children, the first being Mitty L.H.A., born March 8, 1867, who died in infancy. Andy Sherman was born exactly a year later. Thomas L. (known as Aaron) was born July 7, 1870 and his sister Ola Leeava on Feb. 9, 1874/6. We don't know when Mitty died but on March 18, 1880, Kie married Alphus (Allie) Letterman and they had 3 children. First she had twin boys, one born Feb. 14, who died at birth and Orness S., who was born on Feb. 15, 1881. Her next son was Wasper, born May 6, 1884. She then hung herself in the old white barn and was buried by his first wife, Fanny, in Welch Cemetery. He then married Mary Etta Crawley, who was 21 years younger than him, and had 3 children. Elton Malachi (Jack) was born May 23, 1893, Rockee Ellen, was born Dec. 16, 1894, and an unnamed infant who was born and died in 1895. Kie farmed all his life around Northview, and died at 77 years and is buried in MT. Olive Cemetery with his third wife.
