...Samuel Ransom was born to Alvis and Cornelia Lockhart on November 1, 1869 at Williamson County, Texas.  Samuel was their second child, the first being Sarah, (1868).  Cornelia by her previous marriage to Thadeus E. Allen, (killed in the Confederate Army),
had two children, Josephine (1861 - 1931), and Thadeus ( 1862 - 1954).

According to the 1880 census Alvis and Cornelia moved into the house with Alvis' father, Ransom Lockhart.  They lived near the Grove, Bell County, Texas.  Twins, Ellen (1876 - 1963) and Virginia (1876 - 1945) were born to Alvis and Cornelia....

Terrell Patterson served in the 36th Division which was
organized during August and September of 1917 from National
Guard organizations of Texas and Oklahoma and 8,500 drafted men.
He and his brother, Boone, went to Camp Bowie in San Antonio on a
special train with Otis Whitt, Henry Smith, Herman Lockhart, Pete
Padgett and Vester Ballard, and other inductees from Coryell County.
Terrell, Vester, Pete, and Herman were in the same squad in Company
M, 143rd Infantry, 36th Division.  The Coryell boys served in the
American Expeditionary Force in France (Meuse and Argonne).
They were on the front at the Rhine River for thirty-six days,
had gone back to get food and clothes when the Armistice was
signed.
