1. From the family sheets of Connie Cameron: Monte and Uncle bob Snavely were in the moonshin ing business at Brentwood, Washington County, Arkansas. Their partner was the Shieff of Wash ington County. They peddled thier shine at a resort hotel just off of Hwy 71 at Brentwood . The hotel is still standing as of May of 1988. The hotel hired a new waitress and when sh e opened a milk can to get some milk, she found it full of shine. The revenuers heard of he r talking about it around town and told the Sheriff that they were going to raid their still . The Sheriff got word to Monte and Uncle Bob just as the revenuers were coming in the fron t door. Monte and Uncle Bob and Aunt Effie ran for the car and took off for Cailfornia wit h just what they had on leaving every thing else behind.
He was a former Mayor of Compton, California and a car dealership owner there. He was an ind ian artifacts collector and had collections at the University of California and the Smithsoni an Insititute.
