Lawson CALDWELL

Alsey Note:
Lawson volunteered for service in the Civil War on 19 March 1862 at the age of 23. His occupation was listed as farmer and his height was 5' 6". He was
mustered in at Camp Mangum on 17 April 1862 and assigned to Co. I, 49th.
Regiment NC Infantry. He died of disease at Drury's Bluff near Richmond,VA on 21 August 1862. His widow, Rebecca Caldwell's name appears on a Register of Claims of deceased soldiers in Washington, DC.
