is the wildcard. Love*
will return data that BEGINS
with " love "
while
*love
will return data that ENDS
with " love ".
(Example: Love* might return "lover"
and "lovely" while *love
could return "glove" and "clove") .
If
no special characters are used, the search engine finds records that
CONTAIN your text or numbers in the selected
field. (Example: typing
romance
or typing *roman*
will have the same results. Quotes
(either single or double) at the beginning and end will force an exact
match (Example: " Male "
will not return " Female " ).
A
forward slash "/"
at the beginning and end indicates a regular expression. If you have
experience with regular expressions, you can perform as complex a
search as you wish. They are too complex to describe here.
